Many years ago, my great-grandma died of Alzheimer's.

At that time, my grandpa, her son, was taking care of her,

and every weekend my family would go visit them in Mexico.

My great-grandma had it really bad, where she was stuck in a time when she was little.

She would repeat the same stories over and over again.

Everyone would listen for a bit.

Eventually, they would get tired of the repetitiveness and leave her by herself.

I couldn't do that, though, so I'd stay with her. I would pretend I didn't know

the stories. I would often go along with her conversations. I'd ask her questions. She'd answer, as if she was a little girl.

She would have episodes of panic.

She would start yelling that my grandpa, her son, was poisoning her.

But he was just trying to give her her meds.

I'd stay by her side until she calmed down.

Would brush her white, soft short hair.

She never knew who I was. I never existed in her mind.

Sometime after, she passed. About a year or so later I was working in California

in a shoe store. I would usually open or

clothes by myself. Sometimes on slower days I'd go to the back and organize the

shoes, do inventory. One shift I was in the back just counting inventory. At one point I decided to go check

see if anyone had come in and needed help. As I walked to the front I saw an old lady walking in.

While she was walking, she had a very bright white glow all around her.
