Hi everyone, welcome to that spooky I'm Johnny and I'm Tyler and this is a weekly podcast that's hosted by Big John and Little John from Halloween kills.

0:44.8

Yeah, but we'll leave it up to you to decide who is Big John and who is Little John.

0:49.3

Absolutely and we won't give away any spoilers but I'm just gonna say Michael Myers shows up and he's basically like Kim Richards and he's like,

0:57.7

you stole my goddamn house. It's very that. Yeah, it's totally that which is very appropriate given some of the casting choices in the movie. It's true. Yeah, hey Kyle, nice nose ring. All right, so here we are. We're feeling gorgeous. We're feeling delicious.

1:11.9

Evil dies tonight. Evil dies tonight. All right. Well, if you want to know all of our opinions on Halloween kills, you can tune into the most recent episode of spooky snacks on the Secret Society.

1:22.4

We did kind of dish on our thoughts and feelings about it. Uh-huh. No spoilers, of course. Yeah. Well, no, like I said before, no spoilers.

1:29.6

But I couldn't get away without throwing a used oh my god damn house reference in there.

1:34.4

Because it's too perfect. I just learned the reference. I have to overuse it. Exactly. So welcome babies. Here we are. It's time for some spooky gay bullshit.

1:42.8

Then we're gonna do housekeeping and oopsie poopies and then we'll get into the dang thing. I love it. Sounds appropriate. Yeah. All right. So let's do this.

1:51.3

I know a lot of you are probably thinking that we're gonna start spooky gay bullshit off this week with a little discussion about Dracula season four episode one. But we're actually going to be offsetting it by a week.

2:03.4

Yeah, because Dracula premieres on Tuesdays every week. Yeah. Our episodes are released on Wednesdays every week. So it's just a little bit too too close to close for us to be able to like recap the most recent episode.

2:15.8

So basically every time we're recapping we're gonna be an episode behind. But that's okay maybe because that gives us time. It gives you time to watch it. Well, that's the tea. Like the other reason was that we didn't want to spoil it on people the very next day.

2:28.8

In case they hadn't given the chance to see it yet. Exactly. Here we are. That's the choice. So next episode at the top of spooky gay bullshit. We are going to be talking about Dracula season four episode one. But until then we're just going to be doing the regular old gig. Yeah.

2:43.4

Alright, so let's get into this then. You have a story and I have a story to talk about during the spooky gay bullshit this week. Correct? Correct. And why don't I go first? Love it. Okay. So my story actually comes out of Christ Church New Zealand. Okay. We know her. Yeah, we know her well. A lot of things seem to go down in Christ Church New Zealand. Like I'm beginning to think that Christ Church New Zealand is just New Zealand. Yeah. Because I really. I mean, no, I'm being cheeky. Okay.

3:08.0

A lot of stories and references I hear about New Zealand happens to be in relation to Christ Church. And this piece of spooky gay bullshit is no different. So get into this. It was just announced that the New Zealand Council was ending its decades long contract with a wizard. Really? Uh huh. What?

3:30.6

Wait, wouldn't it look like an actual wizard that wears a pointy hat and cast spells? I mean, yeah. Am I going out on a limb by imagining Merlin here? No, not really because it's definitely giving you that Merlin vibe. Okay.

3:43.2

So the wizard in question is 88 year old Ian Brackenbury channel. And he's been being paid $16,000 a year for 23 years to provide acts of wizardry for the city of Christ Church in New Zealand. Okay.

3:59.6

Yeah. But all of that is about to change because the wizard has been taken off the public payroll. Okay. But does that just mean that they're going to be doing it on a volunteer basis from now on? I mean, kind of. Yeah.

4:13.2

They're basically just being like, we're not going to pay you anymore, but you can still do your wizardy thing. Yeah. So the wizard who was born in England began performing acts of wizardry and entertainment in public space is shortly after he arrived in New Zealand in 1976.

4:27.3

And when the council originally tried to stop him, the public protested. So they were like, no witchcraft, no wizardry up in here, but then the public was like, why not? Yeah.
