Chris Carter is an Oxford-trained philosopher on the author of four highly acclaimed books, as well as several scholarly articles.

Hi, Chris, thanks a lot for coming on my podcast. Thanks for having. So we're going to talk about your book. It's called The Case

for the Afterlife, Evidence of Life After Death. Could you first of all tell us about the experience

you had at college that kind of opened your eyes to all this stuff? Well, it was nothing terribly dramatic.

I was just studying in England and for two years and at the end of the first year, one of my friends was trying to convince me to join him and two other graduate students to spend her next year living in a farmhouse just outside of town

was owned by our college um i wasn't sure if i wanted to as an expatriate student i'd rather be

closer to town in college but then he said something that caught my interest he said the place

has a ghost and you know I was a little bit shocked.

And I said, has anyone seen anything?

And he said, no, but there's been a lot of strange sounds reported.

So I decided to go and see the place myself.

It was a two-story stone medieval farmhouse, quite large.

And while I was there, I stopped in to speak with a college carpenter.

And after a brief chat, I came straight out with it.

I just said, I hear the place is haunted.

And he said, well, I don't know myself, but the carpenter before me, he swore the place was

haunted.

Well, that was enough for me.
