Hey everyone welcome to talk Nurdy. I'm your host Kara Santa Maria. I am really excited about this week's episode. It's going to be a good one. I am

sitting down with Phil Ferguson of Polaris Financial and I

know it's got that word financial in it and if you're worried that it may be a snooze

trust me it is not it is really interesting to learn about

science-based and evidence-based investing. He has helped me a lot in my life. I think he could help you

and yours. Lots of fun stuff coming up up but first I want to thank all of you who

have sent me happy birthday wishes over the interwebs it means a lot to me my

birthday is today Monday October 19th the day that this episode is airing. I'm the big 3-2 and you guys have

been so sweet to help me celebrate. I got to spend the weekend with the people that I love.

I had a really wonderful time after a pretty trying week of work and travel

but I got to spend some time in New York earlier this week to receive a wonderful journalism award from the Knight Foundation and

Cuny J School and Neil degrass Tyson.

So that was a whole lot of fun.

And I do have one really big announcement that I want you guys to keep your eye on.

It's the newest thing that I'm working on in my day job, which is the TV stuff that I do.

I have an amazing opportunity to co-host brain surgery live with

mental floss which is airing on National Geographic on Sunday, October 25th at 9 PM Eastern 8th Central,

so that would be what, 6th Pacific.

It is a two hour live special where Bryant Gumbull will be hosting, which is so freaking cool.

And I will be co-hosting along with Dr Raoul Jean Diehl who is a neurosurgeon and we will be kind of giving the play-by-play and the color commentary of a live awake brain surgery for Parkinson's and

dyskinesia.

It is a deep brain stimulation surgery.
