I want today to do something surprising, which is I want to thank the Federalist, the website

I don't have much praise for for the most part.

Now run by Molly Hemingway and having pushed itself very far to the increasingly far to

the right for a piece that the Federalist published yesterday called we need to stop calling

ourselves conservatives by John Daniel Davidson.

The reason I want to thank them is that they are making for themselves the argument that

we have been making about people like this who have come to seem to dominate the conversation

on the right often and are used by people on the left to say this is what the right really

believes and this is something that we are fighting against that is our mission to fight

against.

And it is Davidson saying the conservative project has largely failed.

Conservatives should stop calling themselves conservative.

They need to consider themselves radicals and push for revolutionary or counterrevolutionary

change because as Davidson says, quote, conservatives, a long defined their politics in terms of
