channel. Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be

taking a look at a much more somber topic than usual, the deaths of some of the late and great

actors that took part in the series. In 2022, we lost of some of the late and great actors that took part in the series.

In 2022, we lost a couple of the Harry Potter greats, including Robbie Coltrane,

Hagrid, and Leslie Phillips, the sorting hat, and I thought that with the closing of the

year, we could honour the rest of the names, big and small, that we've lost over the decades.

Let's dive in.

Richard Harris, Dumbledore.

Richard Harris was an Irish actor and singer and the first actor to play Albus Dumbledore,

pre Michael Gambon.

Harris actually turned down the role of Dumbledore initially, as he was afraid that it would

be all that he was remembered for, remarking, I don't just want to be remembered for being

in those bloody films.

He went on to appear in the first two films in the series, Harry Potter in the Philosopher

Stone and Harry Potter in the Chamber of Secrets, before tragically passing away from Hodgkin's

lymphoma.

The new Dumbledore, Michael Gambon, was cast as his replacement four months after his death.

Though Harris once remarked that he didn't want to be remembered for being in Harry Potter,

and though he had an illustrious career that existed outside of Harry Potter, it'll be hard not to remember

his role as the wise old wizard. Robert Knox, Marcus Belby. Robert Knox is perhaps best known
