President Trump met with the president of Turkey ahead of the annual NATO summit, where he considered

selling them fighter jets despite congressional opposition. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce

has the latest.

Turkish President Erdogan has reportedly long had his sights on American F-35s, but has

faced consistent opposition from Congress. Despite Turkey's NATO membership, many view the nation

as an unstable ally

with an independent foreign policy and have been wary of certain arms deals. However, President

Trump took a new position while speaking at the NATO conference this morning in the Turkish capital.

Trump heaped praise on Erdogan as a leader and ally. Commenting on the F-35 sale, Trump stated

it was certainly something we will consider. While the

statement was far short of any kind of commitment, it could signal a significant change in the U.S.

Turkish relationship. Meanwhile, Ukraine's President Zelensky argued again for NATO membership,

citing Ukraine's battlefield experience in advanced drone capabilities. He urged allies to provide more

air defense systems and called for Europe to develop its own anti-ballistic missile capability.

This comes as Russia continues missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. It also follows

President Trump's own criticism of European nations for their lack of defense spending and

weak responses to global conflicts.
