A gunman ambushes Idaho firefighters.

In Idaho, two firefighters were killed and one injured in what appears to have been a premeditated shooting ambush.

The alleged gunman was found dead with a firearm nearby.

Authorities say he likely started a brushfire on the nearby Canfield Mountain to lure first responders into a deadly trap.

Sheriff Robert Norris called the shooting a a quote, total ambush and says the investigation

is still going on.

We do believe that he started it and it was totally intentional what he did.

We don't believe that he's the one that made the 911 call.

But that could change.

The FBI, DHS, and state officials are all monitoring the case closely.

In a harrowing radio call released, a trapped firefighter at the scene warned dispatchers

that law enforcement was needed and described the blaze as an intentional trap.

We need law enforcement up here. We could get two, the two wounded out.
