War Secretary Pete Hagsath defended a $1.5 trillion budget request before the Senate

Armed Services Committee today. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has more. The hearing began just

hours before the war in Iran passed the 60-day mark, a key date because under the War Powers Resolution

Act of 1973, the president has 60 days from

the beginning of any military conflict to seek congressional approval or end military operations.

But in the hearing, Hexeth told Democrat Senator Tim Kaine that Congress may have to wait a bit

longer to hear from the administration.

On Iran, ultimately, I would defer to the White House and White House counsel on that. However,

we are in a ceasefire right now, which our understanding means the 60 day clock pauses or stops

in a ceasefire. So you're not in. It's our understanding, just so you know. Okay, well, I do not

believe the statute would support that. I think the 60 days runs maybe tomorrow.
