House Republicans failed not once, but twice to clear a major hurdle in bringing their

Department of Defense spending bill to the floor.

After the vote, some members use words like dysfunction to describe the state of the party.

With the government shutdown possible at the end of the month, Congress can either pass

a short-term spending bill or pass all 12 individual spending bills through appropriations.

But on a short-term spending bill, different wings of the party are far apart.

A lot of work has been done just to try to find some middle ground.

We're speaking to Texas Congressman August Fluger, who says Republicans need to get it together,

or Democrats may jump on the opportunity to work with moderate Republicans.

The unfortunate thing about it is that our border security is completely suffering.
