Last year, NASA's Osiris Rec spacecraft collected rocks from an asteroid more than a billion miles away.

Now it's bringing them home to Earth.

Scientists, years from now,

our children and our children's children will be able to investigate the sample

which will enable discoveries

for years to come. This is the Fox News rundown evening edition.

NASA's Osiris Rex, which stands for origin spectral interpretation, resource identification,

security regolith explorer was first launched in 2016. It took years to travel more than a

billion miles to reach and eventually touch the surface of an asteroid, scientists named

Benu, an asteroid

a third of a mile long.

Osiris Rex collected a sample from the surface and now it's fired its rockets
