There's been only one night with a ceasefire between Hamas militants and Israel's defense forces, but make no mistake. It is not a truce.

Both sides have their demands, their complaints. Hamas complaints Israel is still an oppressor. Israel reminds

that Hamas is still dedicated to Israel's destruction. Between those two governments

are people, Israelis, Gazans. They've endured war yet again.

There are implications. There is destruction to clean up and deaths to mourn. Few who bear

this cost take part in international negotiations.

The interesting part about covering war is that you've got to do it up close.

You have to be there on the front line. You have to talk to soldiers, civilians,

militants, and everyone in between.
