Summary

This is the "big reveal" moment in the Gospel of Mark. It turns out that Jesus was highly anticipated and largely misunderstood. What Jesus does in Mark 8 is to keep us from misunderstanding who He is or what He has come to do. It's really remarkable! Come and see how the cross is at the center of the purposes of Christ and how Jesus wanted to make sure that nobody interpreted Him apart from His death and resurrection. 0:44.3	Mark shows us, as we go through the Gospel of Mark, some people talk about the Messianic
0:48.9	Secret of Mark, that through Mark there is this sort of constant command from Jesus like don't tell people
0:54.6	about what I'm doing here. Don't tell them this thing that I did, this healing that I
0:59.2	performed, that kind of thing. Well at the same time he's doing miracles that are clearly in Mark, meant to tell the audience
1:06.0	or the readers of Mark who Jesus really is.
1:09.4	So we have this kind of like interplay of this sort of confusing what is why is he is why is
1:15.3	are these miracles revealing who he is what's going on here and basically what we're
1:19.1	getting from the gospel of Mark and the other Gospels in general is that Jesus the Jewish Messiah, the long
1:24.8	expected Jewish Messiah, he was highly anticipated and largely misunderstood.
1:30.1	And that is the whole like framing you need in the Gospel of Mark to understand this messianic secret.
