Representative Peter sponsored the Bipartisan Super Pollutants Act and co-sponsored the Safe Drinking Water Act and is one of the more interesting Congressman from California.

It's a pleasure to have you with us.

Thanks very much, John. Thanks for having me. How many times have people called you, Scott Peterson today? That never happens, right? Never happens. It happened during a re-election campaign. I had once when people said, I can't believe that guy's running. I said, no, Peters. I did not take my wife fishing and not bring her back. Oh, mercy. I mean, I'm glad you have a good sense of humor about it. Yeah, you have to, right? How have you been enjoying this convention so far compared to previous ones? It's kind of late, you know? I think the hours are late here, but it's great. I'll tell you, this is the convention I wanted. When I signed up for the convention, we were going to really try to push Joe Biden across the finish line.

And I think the mood was really pessimistic.

And I was one of the people that came out kind of early and said, you know, as much as we love Joe Biden as president, we have to find a new candidate because it's just not resonating with voters.

And I think people weren't enthusiastic about it.

But now we have a candidate who's going to get people off the couch and it's going to help us win house races around the country

and the Senate and I think has a really good shot at the presidency and so I feel really good

about where we are. What kind of pushback did you have? It's been interesting on this side

of things. Our callers were nine to one against the president dropping out.

But of course, watching how the enthusiasm has grown since then.

And as a comedian on tour with the shows that we do, you know, it was really the let's go.

We're going to let's get the old man reelected.

We're going to do it.
