The Mets had an absolutely awful weekend. They got swept by the pathetic Tampa Bay Rays.

They do have good news for you. They're one game out of a playoff spot. True story.

That's how mediocre the National League is so far. And that's what matters.

Because if you ask me right now,

would you rather watch the Mets win 90 games and miss the playoffs

or win 80 games and make the playoffs,

I would choose the 80 and make the playoffs.

With all of that said,

I think I've shown you Sean and everybody listening that I can be

patient it's baseball it's a long season you got to give guys time and I've been

consistent about that with Aaron Judge and Francisco Lindor, two guys that we've talked

a lot about or a decent amount about considering their early slumps.

But I come to you right now with someone I am worried about someone I am

Panicking about are you worried I am worried and that person I'm worried about is not Pete Alonzo. I want to make that very, very clear. Am I happy with Pete Alonzo? No. Am I disgusted with some of his at bats over the last week or so?

Yes! Bases loaded double plays, pop-ups to second base, flailing at change-ups in the dirt.

I am not going to sit here, despite how grotesque my beard and hair is,

out of loyalty to Pete and sugarcoat a damn thing.

He's been a mess, and he's got to wake up. But I'm not worried and the

reason I'm not worried is because last year even though Pete Alonzo had a career low

batting average of 217. He had 46 home runs and

drove in 118 runs and I am confident that Pete Alonzo will get to those

numbers and will get hot and will make someone paying and all of those
