How Alan Boone should line up his lineup in a little bit, but today often Wells let off?

Do you realize the Yankees, who before being the Yankees were the New York Highlanders,

they've been around for a very long time, very, very, very long time.

In their long, illustrious history, have never.

The key word here is never. Never? Never had a catcher lead off for them

in a regular season game. Wow. Not one time. And I was like, there's no way this is true. So I spent

way too much time this morning on baseball reference trying to prove it wrong.

But it's not wrong.

Thurman Munson may have batted second a few times, never let off.

Now most teams don't lead off their catcher.

It's a rarity.

In fact, when I think of a catcher leading off, I think of Jason Kendall of all people,

for many years ago.

So it is a rarity, but you would think one time, or maybe a couple of times.

So if Austin Wells leads off at any point this season, and we talked about this not too long ago when we were going through all the different lead-off options, we mentioned Austin

Wells' name, and all you guys were like, I see it, potentially. Weren't hating it, weren't loving. It was just like, okay, it's an interesting name.

But if it happens during the regular season,

it would make New York Yankee history.

And any time you make New York Yankee history,

that's badass because they've been around for a thousand years.
