Summary

Welcome to the “Leave No Doubt” pod, an in-season Monday episode of Buckeye Talk where Stephen Means and Stefan Krajisnik constantly ask a simple weekly question: Did Ohio State leave no doubt on Saturday? This week, we look at the good, the bad and everything in between from OSU's 7-0 start. Instead of seeing how the Buckeyes left no doubt, we decide whether a few teams on their schedule achieved that mission or not. And what it means as we evaluate what’s next. I'm Steve Amiz, and that's Stefan Kreisnick. And this is your Monday Leave No Doubt, where we try to answer the question every single week, did Ohio State leave? No doubt with how it played on the field, but also sometimes it can be about bigger pictures. And obviously throughout the season, it does kind of evolve into that. Ohio State seven and a four and oh in the Big Ten, heading into its second by week. They are the number one team in the country.

1:11.2

When they return in two weeks, they'll play Penn State. Assuming they win that game, they're probably going to be number one in the first college football, playoff rankings that come out the Tuesday following that Penn State game. It's always funny. They always end up playing Penn State the Saturday before the playoff rankings come out. But they also don't play placed Penn State for a couple of years. So I guess they don't have to worry about that. So here's what we're doing today. We're splitting this up into three different parts. It's essentially what we're, this leave, no doubt, pot typically is defense, special teams offense and then Julian Sand. But it's more from a bigger picture perspective, trying to project some things, trying to have some conversations about some things that I think are important for Ohio State. Some of these things will be positive.

1:32.6

Some of these things will be negative. Some of these things, I guess it just depends on how you feel

1:36.6

about those things. It will decide whether that they are positive or negative. And Stefan, the place

1:42.5

I want to start, I want to start with the positive. So we're going to start with the defense, which also is going to have some negatives because I split up defense and special teams, because if not, we're going to spend 20 minutes here going, hey, the defense is great. Yeah, defense is great. Yeah, the defense is great. Jermaine Matthews, Lorenzo, Stiles, Devin Sanchez. This is, I think, the ultimate good problem that I think a

2:02.5

defense could have, where the guy who's doing a job isn't doing it poorly, but there just might

2:08.5

be a guy who is elite, elite, elite at it. And if you felt like Devin Sanchez, the last two

2:15.3

weeks, he had some freshman mistakes, right, in both of those games. But for the most part, I don't think Devin Sanchez the last two weeks, he had some freshman mistakes, right, in both of those games.

2:18.8

But for the most part, I don't think Devin Sanchez was enough of a liability to where, like,

2:23.8

you can't at least explore it now that you have two weeks to do so.

2:28.6

What would you do?

2:30.6

If you were Tim Walton and Matt Patricia and Matt Guerrary, what would you do coming out against

2:37.4

Penn State? How would you handle that trio dynamic in terms of who's the starter and who's

2:44.3

going to play the most snaps? Yeah, I feel like I've been pretty vocal on the pot about my thoughts

2:50.0

on Jermaine Matthews and everything

2:51.2

that he can do in that slot role. And to be quite honest, you know, this was a conversation

2:56.6

we had after the Illinois game. And I'm not sure the Wisconsin game changed a whole lot for me
