The scramble to flee the fighting in Sudan is continuing with France and the US saying they are

standing by to carry out more evacuations. As we record this podcast South Africa has said it's

currently carrying out an operation to rescue its citizens. Over the weekend, people from Europe,

Africa and Asia were flown out of Sudan in military transport planes sent by a number of different

governments. The EU foreign policy chief Joseph Barrel said more than 1,000 European citizens

had reached safety. So it has been a successful operation but complex, it was in touch with the

two general fighting in Sudan. And now the ceasefire has stopped us over. We have to continue pushing

for a political settlement. We cannot afford that Sudan, which is a very populated country,

in blows because it will be sent in short waves around the whole Africa. Despite Mr. Barrel's

reference to a ceasefire, most attempts at a truce between the army and the rival rapid support
