Welcome to episode two of EV News, China, a limited run of

podcasts I'll be doing every weekday in July. It'll be a series of bonus shows, which I hope

will be essential, listening for anyone interested in or doing business with the world's

electric vehicle superpower. It's Tuesday, 1st of July. I'm Martin Lee, and I go through every Evie story,

so you don't have to. We'll start with news of BYD, achieving its highest monthly sales in

2025 during June, after sharply reducing prices on multiple models. Last month, BYD got record

sales of new energy vehicles, totaling 382,585 in a single month.

That's up 12% from the same time last year. However, monthly growth was 0.03%. It's the third month

in a row where monthly growth month tomonth has been below 1%. This followed price

cuts on several models introduced in May. Of June's total of 382,500, 377.5,000 were passenger

NVVs, up 11% compared to June last year. Commercial vehicles, a bit of BYD's business, but not a huge amount.

5,000 of their total were commercial vehicles up 242% on the same month last year.

Within passenger vehicles, pure beves were 206,000 up 42%. Plug-in hybrids, 170,000. Down slightly. Total vehicle deliveries for the first

half of the year for BYD, 2.1 million. Regulators recently criticized BYD and other automakers

for starting intense price wars, calling it rate race competition and advise them to voluntarily

limit aggressive price moves. Meanwhile, BYD continues to expand outside China. Data Force reported

that BYD quadrupled European sales in the first four months of the year, BYD's international

sales up significantly, reaching a monthly high of 90,049 exported units last
