Carlos Mojash is the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation.

You may remember, Carlos, it's actually almost two years, just over two years rather than since our last podcast.

So a lot has happened.

We're way down the path now of the current mandate of this current European Commission.

Just as kick the conversation of Carlos.

Give me your assessment, your view about the current

health of the Horizon 2020 program that you steer. Thank you so much, Paul. Thanks again for

coming along for these very nice conversation. I think that, I mean, a lot of things have changed

and I think that Horizon 2020 has been doing great.

I mean, you look now at more than 88,000 participations, 32 billion euros that have been put into grants.

So it's a great journey and it's a journey that is going to go until 2020. We've

launched another 30 billion euros of projects for the last three years. And in those projects,

we have this pilot for a European Innovation Council, which as you know is one of the very,

very important things that I've been doing

during these three years, the setup of that idea that we have to change the way we finance

and fund innovation.

And so these now are going, and it's part still of Horizon 2020.

And then we will have a fully flinchanged European Innovation Council for Horizon Europe.

Let's try and be a bit more concrete maybe, Carlos.

People broadly know that the European Union has a rather well-resourced research program.
