Sandra Gottzi is a member of the European Parliament, first elected in 2019 and then re-elected in

2024 and is a member of the Centre-left Renew Europe Group.

He's also the European Parliament co-chair of the Parliamentary Partnership Assembly set

up under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement on EU-K relations. He was a member of the Parliamentary Partnership Assembly set up under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement

You're a busy man, especially at the moment.

I think when this podcast was first set up, we could have talked about many, many, many things,

but certainly not what's happened in the last two weeks or so, even the last week.

So we're obviously going to talk about Europe's response to the crisis, the war on our doorstep,

if you like, and the United States response to all that.

And I thought it might be interesting to start by asking your opinion on the role and the

reactions of a small number of European leaders to the crisis in the last two weeks or so.

Starting with Georgia Maloney, I know you sit in the European

Parliament now as a French MEP, but you have a long political career in Italy. And as you know,

much better than I do, Georgia Maloney is often described maybe more than the foreign press

than the Italian press as the so-called Trump whisperer. Do you agree, even though you're not from

the same political persuasion,

that she has a certain special role here to play and a special influence on Donald Trump or not?
