About the speaker: Dr. Christopher Kaczor (rhymes with razor) is Professor of Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University. He graduated from the Honors Program of Boston College and earned a Ph.D. four years later from the University of Notre Dame. A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Kaczor did post-doctoral work as a Alexander von Humboldt German Chancellor Fellow at the University of Cologne. He was appointed a Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life of Vatican City, a fellow of the Word on Fire Institute, and William E. Simon Visiting Fellow in the James Madison Program at Princeton University. The winner of a Templeton Grant, he has written more than 100 scholarly articles and book chapters. An award winning author, his sixteen books include Jordan Peterson, God, and Christianity: The Search for a Meaningful Life, Disputes in Bioethics, Thomas Aquinas on the Cardinal Virtues, Abortion Rights: For and Against, 365 Days to Deeper Faith, The Gospel of Happiness, The Seven Big Myths about Marriage, A Defense of Dignity, The Seven Big Myths about the Catholic Church, The Ethics of Abortion, O Rare Ralph McInerny: Stories and Reflections on a Legendary Notre Dame Professor, Life Issues-Medical Choices; Thomas Aquinas on Faith, Hope, and Love; The Edge of Life, and Proportionalism and the Natural Law Tradition. And I learned a few years ago not to fish for compliments.

So I had been exercising a lot and running and I had lost a lot of

weight. And so I went to the kids and I was ready to impress them. I said, you know kids, I only

weigh three pounds more now than I did when I was a senior in high school. And I wait for the

compliments come in and my daughter looks at me and she goes, oh my gosh dad, you were that fat in high school.

So that didn't go over very well.

So what are we talking about today?

Today we're talking about end of life care from a tomistic perspective.

And I want to talk to you about some challenges to the tomistic view, some strategies for meeting those challenges,

and finally and very briefly some models for moving forward with end-of-life care.

So my future predictions are certainly not infallible.

When I was, this is quite a while ago now, I went to my dad and I said,

well, I've got this money when Grandpa Dati left us some money and I said, I want to invest

this money in some stock. And he goes, okay, that sounds good. So what do you think of investing
