Andy, we're about to get into our wonderful, wonderful chat with Ethan Hawke, the star, the executive producer, the co-writer, the co-creator of Good Lord Bird,

which is on Showtime. Ethan Hawke is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Limited Series for Good Lord Bird.

If people haven't checked it out, they definitely should. It's just an amazing piece of work.

He was really nice enough to give us almost an hour of his time.

And we talked some about Good Lord Bird and then everything else.

What a treat. What a delight to talk to a guy who is very comfortable talking about the acting preparation and performance of Denzel Washington and also the time St. Francis asked for his own order within the Christian church.

And before we get into it, I do want to say both of us talked about Good Lord Bird when it started last year.

And I think both of us have admitted that we drifted from it.

Sam S. Mill came under our podcast, said it was one of the best of the year. Since then, and of course in preparation for this interview, we both revisited it, finished it.

I'd like to say I'm sorry that I didn't finish it last year.

My bad, our bad. It is really a remarkable show that only improves and grows and deepens when you get to the end.
