My guest Ethan Hawke is a serious actor and for Hawke that means putting up with the

indignities of celebrity.

Part of your job is to be made fun of.

Part of your job is to start conversations.

I mean, I love that Ellen Ginsburg thing about, you know, he would go out on that talk

show in Johnny Carson, whatever, and he would sing hard Krishna stuff.

And somebody asked somebody, he said, you think I don't know people make fun of me?

It's my job, it's a poet.

You know, I want them lie in bed going, what was that guy doing on that show, making

a fool of himself?
