Welcome to our Thursday's broadcast of the Gospel Truth.

This week I've been talking about eternal life, and it's not what you think.

It's not just living forever.

It is talking about a quality relationship, personal relationship with the Lord, not reserved for in heaven, but something that you can experience right now.

That's what I've been saying.

John chapter 3, verse 16,

Jesus is one speaking, and he says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only

begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Everlasting life is the goal of Jesus coming. It's not getting your sins

forgiven. That's not the goal of salvation. Now, it is true that we need our sins forgiven. It was a

barrier that stood between us and God. And so Jesus did pay for our sins. He became sin for us, is what it says in 2nd, Corinthians chapter 5, verse 21.

He became sin for us who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

I am not saying that Jesus did not die for our sins.

That was absolutely essential.

But if all you did was receive forgiveness of sins

and you don't receive eternal life, you are missing the purpose of salvation based on John

316. He gave himself for our sins so that we wouldn't perish but have everlasting life.

What is everlasting life? John 17.3,

Jesus again was speaking and he said, this is life eternal, that they might know thee,

the only true God and Jesus Christ whom I have sin. So eternal life is knowing God in an intimate,
