Let's get into the word. Esther, chapters seven and eight tonight.

0:06.0

I want to, before we jump in, just kind of, so we can hit the ground running,

0:15.0

let you know where we're at. We kind of left it on a cliffhanger last week. It was right after the first banquet that Esther

0:25.8

had invited Haman, evil Haman and the king, the king too. And she had, instead of asking for what her petition was, after the king had said,

0:43.8

I will give you up to half of my kingdom. She said, if it pleases the king, will you please the king,

0:49.0

will you please come to a second banquet tomorrow, which was really interesting because God did

0:57.3

quite a bit that night between the first banquet and the second banquet, namely giving the

1:04.9

king a sleepless night, this divine insomnia. And the king, as a result of that that had his men go get the chronicles to read as

2:04.6

to which their response was, no, we've not done anything. And at that exact moment, again,

2:10.6

as God would have it, here comes Haman. Now he's there for a different reason, and he's there early, first thing in the morning. And he's there for a different reason and he's there early first thing in the morning and

2:19.3

he's there to ask the king to have Mordecai hung on the gallows that he had built.

2:32.3

And before he could even ask the king to grant him this, the king asks him a

2:39.7

question on the heels of learning that nothing was done for Mordecai. And so he says to Haman,

2:49.1

what do you think should be done for the man whom the king delights

2:58.1

to honor?

2:59.8

Now here's Haman full of himself, it's all about him, and he's thinking to himself, we're
