The End of Suffering. In this episode, Eckhart answers questions about suffering as part of the human condition.

He says many spiritual traditions focus on awakening as the end of suffering. Paradoxically, Eckhart says,

we need to go through a certain amount of suffering in order to realize we don't want it anymore.

He says, oftentimes our suffering is caused not by our life

situation, but our reaction to it. He believes much of our pain is generated by the mind and its

toxic narrative. Eckhart says we can move beyond suffering by embracing life's challenges.

He says they are a doorway into the transcendent

realm and that when we step into the light of consciousness, we are free from suffering at last.

Hello, everybody. Here we are again. Let's acknowledge the present moment, which means becoming aware not only of your sense perceptions,

but also becoming aware of yourself, not of yourself as a person, not the historical self, but being aware of yourself as the awareness.

And so you don't need to remember who you are or who you will be

just be aware of being of being aware

a silent space of presence.

And that transcends who you are as a person.

It transcends your life situation.

Whatever is happening in your life situation.

So this is the transcendent dimension of consciousness.

That's the essence of all spiritual teachings.

And this will always be challenged by the things of this world.

And your work, so to speak, is to embody this deeper dimension of consciousness, even while engaged in the affairs of everyday life

and even when confronted with problems.
