It has now been more than two weeks since Joe Biden became the president-elect.

And yet, President Trump is now trying to overturn the results of the election.

Asking electors in states where Biden won to vote for him instead, saying there was some kind of massive voter fraud, which there wasn't.

And leading Republicans, like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, are still not in public at least, saying anything to stop Trump.

In fact, Mitch McConnell said last week that not only is all of this normal, just not really any reason to talk about it.

In all of these presidential elections, we go through this process.

And we're going to have an orderly transfer from this administration to the next one.

What we all say about it is, frankly, irrelevant.

To be fair, it's not like McConnell's required to say or do something in order for the transition to officially start.

So what has McConnell been up to since the election?

Well, he's confirmed six of Trump's nominees to lifetime appointments as federal judges.

The most recent is a 33-year-old woman who the American Bar Association says is unqualified.

And McConnell's staff reportedly is now negotiating with Democrats on funding the government and a new round of COVID relief.

That's as 12 million more people could lose unemployment benefits by the end of the year.

But before any of that gets done, McConnell sent senators home early for Thanksgiving break.

Told them to stay healthy so they won't miss any votes when they come back.

So yeah, Mitch McConnell is still in the news, still making huge decisions that affect our lives.

And that's why we are revisiting our series about him, essential Mitch.
