My name is Peter Mish.

I'm a recovered alcoholic.

I am a recovered alcoholic.

We come from, he comes from New Jersey.

I come from Old Jersey.

Old Jersey is a little island.

Just off the coast of France,

it still belongs to England somehow.

We're not quite sure how, but all the law is in French,

and it's all kind of very strange and very crazy, but it was once

described as 70,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock in the middle of the English Channel.

I was one of those alcoholics clinging to that rock. I got sober in Jersey on December 11th, 1981.

I have, for the Gracie Garden steps in this book, I've got 31 years of surviving.

I think without sort of pressing it very far, that's pretty much permanent survival.
