Hi, my name is Gail, I'm an alcoholic.

That's the nicest introduction I've ever had, not the most honest but it is the nicest.

If you can't hear me just yell, that rarely happens, drunk or sober, I have never been

soft spoken and the more scared I get, the louder I get, the problem with speaking at

a convention like this is that as opposed to just talking at a meeting at home, I want

to be good, I want to be good because I've known Roy for a long time because you people

were kind enough to pick up my expenses because I've got friends here and it's impossible

I think to give an honest talk and alcoholics anonymous thinking about, I want to be good.

If you're relatively new around alcoholics anonymous and by that I mean less than five

years.

That's going to be a shock to some of you that are three years sober and know at all but

that's my opinion.

That's why if you're less than five years sober then you've got to know being a speaker

is not the measure of the sober alcoholic and don't for one minute think so and it's

more important for the people who do a lot of talking to know because some of the finest

speakers I've heard in alcoholics anonymous have died drunk and some of the finest members

of alcoholics anonymous that I've ever known never spoke from podium I had a sponsor named
