First of all, I want to ask you a question.

Why is there something rather than nothing?

No, no, I don't want the answer.

I just want you to think about it.

What I want to do is to talk about my experience in coming to sobriety, and in the process of that, try to identify a few spiritual principles

that I think apply to humanity,

whether we, whatever religion we may be, or whatever understanding of God,

we don't have.

I don't understand God. I try to avoid using that phrase, the God of my understanding, because I don't understand God.

And neither do you.

And neither do any of the wonderful people whose books you read

God understands us
