My name is Eric and I'm an alcoholic.

And it's been by the grace of God, sponsorship, and action in AA have been sober since

December 12th of 87 and really appreciate being asked to be here tonight at, you know,

as we always hear it's absolutely true for me.

It's an honor to speak in an A meeting and it's certainly very contrary to my nature.

Or at least before I came to alcoholic synonymous, I was terrified of you finding out what

I was really like and certainly wouldn't want to put myself in a position where you might

be able to see how crazy I really was and I was terrified of that.

So, you know, being behind a podium is certainly something that would not have been able

to do if it weren't for alcoholic synonymous.

The flip side of that though and to add a little bit to what Mike said, it was a three

and a half hour drive but the fact is I would drive great distance today to hear the sound

of my own voice.

You know, I usually enjoy what I have to say and I'm enamored with what I'm saying.

So, you know, it's funny, I'm not kidding, but really, this is a group that like Bobby said,

you know, it's much like our group and has the same name, but it's also, you know,

there's a passion here for alcoholic synonymous and that passion is rooted in, you know,
