Hi everybody, my name is Doug, I'm a grateful alcoholic and I'm grateful to be an alcoholic

and grateful to be a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and the reason I say that, just to piss

off the newcomers, you know, I don't know if that's, you know, I do remember that the

first time I heard somebody say I'm a grateful alcoholic, I thought, and you are more

on, and what an exciting life you must have that the best thing going on for you is you

But the fact is, I'm absolutely positive that my life today is better because I'm an

alcoholic than I would have been if I hadn't been an alcoholic, I'm the only alcoholic

in my immediate family as far as I know and I'd rather be me than any of them and I'm

not saying that as a condemnation of anybody in my family.
