My name is Chris and I am an alcoholic.

It's really great to be here. I was having conversations before the meeting a little bit about what this group is about.

You know, it kind of is a change in format for the area to have a one hour speaker meeting.

And I'm very, very lucky.

I get to participate in a number of different areas around the tri-state area where meetings are being put together,

solution-based meetings that are trying to get back to the basics, the 12-step basics of recovery, as it's laid out in the book Alcoholics Anonymous.

And I find these places are like pockets of enthusiasm.

You can see the recovery on people's faces at these meetings and it's an absolute

joy for me to be able to participate in any types of groups like that.

My home is the whole bit that about, I think it was late 1997,

we decided there was a a there was basically a small meeting that I had at my house and what would what would happen is people would come over mainly the people that I sponsored would come over and we would go

through the book Alcoholics Anonymous and we would follow the spiritual exercises and

the instructions for the steps in this book and a lot of people really started to change.
