Hi, my name is Chris and I'm an alcoholic.

I spread you dates February 5th, 1987 and my home group is the West Portland group in Portland, Oregon.

And I want to thank John for asking me to talk.

I met John about three years ago.

I spoke to your guys as a group and John and I become good friends and appreciate him asking me.

A little bit of what it used to be like, what happened and what it's like now.

I drank for 11 years and for whatever reason, in those 11 years my disease progressed very rapidly.

By the way, I want to welcome all the newcomers.

All of us have been new at one time and congratulations to all the cake takers as well.

In those 11 years I was arrested 15 or 16 times for alcohol related arrests.

I had 3 DUIs.

I was in two treatment centers.

I was in detox.

I was somebody that had alcohol withdrawal when I'd come off of alcohol as hospitalized

for withdrawal.

I ended up, I was a daily drinker.

The majority of my drinking career ended up becoming a daily oblivion drinker at the end.
