Seriously alcoholic.

Through the grace and power of a very loving God that I've accessed with 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous,

an ability to maintain a position of being sponsorable,

commitments, dedicated home group,

and bushels of newcomers I haven't had a drink

or any mind or emotion-oldering substances since October 31st,

1978. And for that, I will always owe you my life. I am delighted to be here.

I'm delighted to know that alcoholism kills people in Iceland just as much as it does in Las Vegas, as it does in London, as it does in Costa Rica, as it does in Japan, that all over this planet,

there are guys like me that will never get into these rooms, that will die of this disease,

and that I get to be among some very fortunate people who have made it into Alcoholics Anonymous.

And maybe if you're really lucky, you've gotten a foothold here, and you'll be able to stay here.

And if you've gotten a foothold here, I encourage you with everything in me.

Don't let any person, any idea,

any resentment, anything drive you out of here because you're the only one that can leave.

And your judgments can kick you out of here. I know that there are people in this room that are as in love with Alcoholics Anonymous as I am,

and how can you not love AA if it does for you what it's done for me?
