Klanan Bernardo. This story is an escape pod original. Klanan Bernardo is a science fiction

and fantasy writer. His fiction appeared or is forthcoming in Apex magazine, pod castle,

escape pod, daily science fiction, transgender travelers lounge and elsewhere. He was one of

the authors selected for the 2021 Imagine 2200 Climate Fiction Contest. In Brazil he was a

finalist for two important science fiction fantasy awards and published multiple stories. His

fiction has also appeared in other languages. His podcast short story, The 800 Legs of the

Hianuitero Bridge, an urban historical fantasy set in 1992 Brazil, is on the nebula recommended

Our narrator, Diogo Hamos, Brazilian, born and raised in Husejaneiro, Diogo is an English

teacher and the editor-in-chief of Chavista Taberna, an online fantasy and science fiction magazine

that publishes short stories written by Brazilian authors and Portuguese. He's been teaching for

almost 15 years and once in a while he dares to translate stories from English to Portuguese.
