I realize I didn't know where my kid was. I can still feel it. It all happened all over again.

You make excuses in your head. Okay, maybe this is what happened. Maybe she went to So until his house and doesn't have a phone.

She just, she wasn't there and everywhere we called, she wasn't there. But you kept assuming that she's gonna show up.

Part of me still think she's gonna walk in the door for something. And another part of me doesn't think that it'll ever happen.

I want to say I hold that hope, but I'm also realist and I know that 20 years later that probably isn't true.

On June 3rd, 2001, 15-year-old Aaron Pospissol wanted to go visit a friend, but she couldn't find a ride to her friend's home, not far from the Pospissol home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Aaron's dad was asleep after his shift at work and her mom was still working. Aaron continued to ask around for rides and eventually a family friend who was at the home offered to take her to her friend's house.

What happened from there is a mystery, but there's one thing that we do know. Aaron has never been seen or heard from again.

15-year-old Aaron Pospissol was a typical teenager. She had an engaging bubbly personality and everyone loved being around Aaron.

Everyone we spoke to about Aaron had nothing but fond memories to share with us. One person we spoke to was Carolyn Pospissol, Aaron's stepmom.

And she was instrumental in helping us share Aaron's story and also connecting us with Aaron's friends. This is what Carolyn told us about Aaron.

I've known Aaron since she's about three. She lived with us all along. We had full custody. She grew up in her house. We have four kids that she grew up with.

She's always been the bubbliest of all my kids and loved life to the fullest. She was active and everything she could be active in.

She wrote a horse one time and thought it was the best thing ever and loved horses very much so after that. She hung out with her friends more than anybody else I have.

Kid-wise, you always knew where you stood with her. If she was mad at you, you knew why she was mad. And if she was happy with you, she was all over you and everything was great and dandy.

She was always the happiest kid of the four of them. She loved everything. She loved to sing. She loved to dance. She was in the dance team at school.

She was never really into sports very much but was very active in other ways. She was definitely the most animated of all of our kids. She'd talk to anybody.

We also spoke to a friend of errands after Carolyn connected us. Her name is Amy. Amy considers Aaron to be a cousin and she told us that she's known Aaron for as long as she can remember.
