special Empire podcast is Eric Eidl, member of Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Ruttles,

and Unseen University. Eric Eidl is a bit of an icon and a hero around Empire, so it was

a great pleasure for both myself, Ali Plum, and Chris Hewitt to interview him for about 40

minutes or so. We cover everything from his Spamalot musical, which we both went and saw, and also his

Bob with the great Eric Eidl. Welcome sir. Good afternoon. You've had quite a Spamalot

week. You've been in court. Yes, we have been in court. It's intensely boring. Really,

something is cool, but luckily I've been there with Michael Paylon and Terry Jones, so we sort

of sat at the back and fell asleep and giggled now and again, but we gave our evidence yesterday.

And you know, that was good. And it's still ongoing. So unfortunately, I can't talk about the

details of the case, because he won't give a ruling till January, but you know, it's cost us

a billion fortune to get this far. I can imagine it would have done, but in my mind, three Python

members, you know, standing, giving some evidence, I can imagine the temptation to play the form

beyond belief. It was very difficult, but we were asked not to, because it's the judge's court,

you know, so if you treat it with disrespect, there's a chance he'll turn against you and be nasty,

because they ask you, you know, if you want to swear on the Bible or on the Quran or a firm,

and I wanted to swear on Michael Paylon's diary. But which one? Well, this is heavy volume,

it looks like a Bible song, but I, they persuaded me that will be about joke to start off with.

So I, yeah, no, so I was just in every opportunity. Okay.
