Summary

Eric Faddis on Karen Read: How Her Own Language May Convict Her
Karen Read’s defense has spent months trying to convince the jury she’s the victim of a conspiracy—but her own voice may be the thing that ultimately convicts her.
Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins us to explain why Read’s behavior—and the statements she allegedly made to and around John O’Keefe’s kids—are legally significant. He walks us through how these statements play in front of a jury, how the defense is failing to neutralize the damage, and why this trial is becoming a credibility war that Read is rapidly losing.
When the jury hears those voicemails, those rants, and those accusations, the question becomes: Would an innocent person really say that?

it, and more importantly, who she's saying it to? Because on the surface, she's leaving a voicemail

for John O'Keefe. She's texting John O'Keefe. So one would assume these are for John O'Keefe.

0:31.7

I don't know that that's truly the reality of this. Let's take a look and we'll work our way through.

John, I effing,

hate you. Why does she hate him? Let's just play by reality here, reality here of what we know,

of what she knew at the time. He didn't look mortally wounded. She left him in the yard. She

saw him either in the yard or in the street. I'm not even going to the house story because it's BS. She's already said where she last saw him. Didn't look mortally wounded. And she hates him because what Jen McCabe said that there's a lady down the road that you used to be in a relationship with, which she knew about?

1:31.9

Or is she mad at John O'Keefe because John O'Keefe got in her way?

1:34.9

Because now she's over here.

1:38.2

And her reality is this, she has this image that she projects.

1:39.3

And everybody likes her.

And Karen's good.

Karen's lovely.
