This show, where two dudes who are not quite nerds, but not quite nobs. Choose a horror movie each week to rate and review. I'm Brian. I'm on the

phone with Ashman and today we are discussing Eraserhead from 1977, written, directed, produced, and

edited by David Lynch, starring Jack Nance, Charlotte Stewart, and Laurel Neer. In this film, a man unexpectedly becomes a father and wrestles with the difficulty of caring for his unusual baby.

If you're new to the show, we're going to discuss some spoiler-free background info on this film for the first 15 or 20 minutes.

After that, we're going to play some transition music

and transition into spoiler mode where we will walk through the plot in detail and review

the film. So if you haven't seen this and you hear that transition music duck out and go watch

it, I believe it's on Max right now. And David Lynch sadly passed away on January 15th, 2025 at the age of 78. So we are doing

this episode in his memory. He announced last year that he had emphysema and after being

forced to evacuate his home due to the recent wildfires in Southern California, he took a turn

for the worst and passed away in his daughter's home.

And while many of his films may not necessarily be horror films, his surrealist tendencies had been a major influence on the horror genre and on filmmaking itself.

And he's generally considered one of the most influential filmmakers of all time.

So sad to see him go.

Ashwin pointed out to me that we're recording this on his birthday, which I didn't even realize, January 20th.
