0:18.0	Monday, January 30th, 2023. How was everyone's first month of the year? It is so weird to look back and decide we're already one month in and I will say it's been rockier at times but also it's flown by which hopefully I think 2023 at large is still going to be an amazing year
0:36.3	My word of the month was rejuvenation and I definitely feel like I succeeded at that but definitely let me know and we will jump into the rest of the show.
0:47.3	All right, let's talk about markets and big tech. This week I'm looking at Mary Ann's recent piece about Marketta, which is a publicly traded FinTech
0:56.7	and news broke this weekend that she covered, which is Marketta has officially agreed to
1:01.4	acquire a two-year-old FinTech startup called Power Finance for
1:05.1	$223 million in cash.
1:07.6	It's Marquetta's first acquisition in its 13-year history.
1:11.0	So some background, Marquetta is valued at 3.7 billion in the public markets and went public in
1:16.3	2021, aka a different era for FinTechs and tech companies and it's all about providing
1:22.2	tools for companies whether they're FinTech
1:23.9	services whether that's cards, wallets, other payment mechanisms. Power Finance,
1:29.6	its acquisition, is similar in that it provides embeddable FinTech as Marianne describes.
1:35.2	It helps companies offer customized credit card programs, targeted promotions, personalized
1:40.0	rewards.
1:41.0	Maybe unlike Marquette, Power Finance is more working with mostly FinTechs, and it's all about existing and integrating into mobile and web applications.
1:49.0	It's got my attention because for me, Marquetta is one of those FinTechs that does become once you are in the
1:54.0	tech world a company that you have to pay attention to just because it's big, public and
1:58.1	important and secondly it reminded me of kind of the different acquisitions we see out there in the world these
2:04.4	days and I divided up into three buckets. I feel like there's the acquisitions that are
2:08.6	moonshots meaning that a company has no business to acquire this company, work with this company, even look at this
