So back in 2012, I spent every waking hour at the Meschid.

I mean, I spent days, weeks, weekends,

morning, afternoon, night, so much so my mother was pissed.

She was pissed because who spends every hour

and every moment at the Meschid?

More than they do at home,

more even more than I even did at school.

But I was so hooked on learning my religion

and because I didn't know much, right?

I knew I needed this environment.

I knew I needed the people in the Meschid

to teach me something.

And because I was also very shy

and I knew I didn't want to just ask somebody to be my teacher,

I relied on the environment and the people in there

that had something to tell me

or they were just practicing their religion

and I was just studying that, that practice.

I remember the moment I met Helaum.

She had this bubbly aura, she was very inviting.

She walked in, she seemed like she knew everyone there.

And it's interesting because I knew everyone
