It's Wednesday of Holy Week.

Today, we'll continue yesterday's story, listening to the gospel reading from The Last Supper.

You probably know the words from the passage we'll read today when Jesus tells his disciples,

do this in memory of me, take and eat. This is my body. This reading is where Jesus gives us

the Eucharist. More than 2,000 years later,

we still do exactly what Jesus told us to do at his last supper

every time we pray the Mass.

Isn't that incredible?

Today we'll do the same sort of imaginative prayer we did yesterday.

I'll read aloud the gospel passage,

and then we'll use our imaginations to see ourselves in the scene. Let's begin by making the sign of the cross. In the name of the

Father, and of the Son, and of the gospel according to Matthew.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said,

Take and eat. This is my body.

Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, drink from it all of you,

for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the

forgiveness of sins. I tell you, from now on, I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until

the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my father.

Let's imagine ourselves in this scene.
