Napoleon was back on Corsica. He and his brothers, Joseph and Lucian, were poised to enter politics.

They were young men. Joseph was 21, Napoleon 20, and Lucian just 15, but they had big ambitions. Despite their youth and

inexperience, the Bonaparte brothers had attracted the interest of a powerful patron,

Christoph Salacheti, who was one of Corsica's representatives to the Assembly in Paris.

Salacheti was a fervent Jacobin and a major player in the revolutionary government.
