In today's study, Chuck completes his teaching on the Book of Mark, Chapter 9.

Music Often, often a rabbi or someone would have a demonic thing, and they did have casting out of spirits.

But the procedure was they first had the spirit identify himself.

So if he had a demon that was making him dumb, not speaking, there wasn't any way to get him to identify himself, which apparently was a preliminary to exorcism that they were used to

dealing with.

And so anyway, this is where I brought you my son, which hath a dumb spirit.

And wheresoever he taketh him, he tareth him.

In other words, the demons really messing the kid up.

And he foamedeth and gnasheth with his teeth, and pith away.

And I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out, and they could not.

Wow. He's both deaf and dumb,

in other words. We get that not only from verse 17, but it's going to allude again in

verse 25. So the demon had this kid, so he couldn't, he was both deaf and dumb. And the

demon was attempting to destroy the kid. Now, I want you to think from it, can you imagine the father trying to take care of this kid?

And unable to protect him.

Can you imagine the anxiety here?
