In today's study, Chuck begins his teaching on the book of Ezekiel, chapters 33 through 35.

Okay, we're exploring a whole new section now in Ezekiel.

The first three chapters were the call of the prophet. Then we had right through chapter 24 detailed judgments that were coming upon Jerusalem. There were three sieges involved.

Nebuchadnezz' first siege took Daniel as a hostage and put a vassal king in charge.

They didn't behave themselves, so Nebuchadnezzar had a second siege during which he took

some more captives, including Ezekiel, and put a different king in charge.

And it's that interval between the second and third siege that occupies the first 24

chapters of this book as Ezekiel tries to explain to his people, who are in Babylon,

the Babylonian Empire, as Jeremiah simultaneously is trying to preach in Jerusalem that what's going

on is God's judgment, that Nebuchadnezzar is God's instrument.

Well, in Jerusalem, they throw Jeremiah in prison, and both Jeremiah

and Zechiel had the burdensome task of trying to convince the children of Israel that God's

judgment is upon them. And if they don't behave, it's going to get worse. Jerusalem is going to get,

it's not just subject, but it's still extending, the people

in Jerusalem are going to suffer death because they're going to level the place if they
