Welcome back to our study of the book of Luke.

And whenever we go into the Word of God, we always want to precede it with prayer.

So let's borrow hearts. Father, we thank you for this time together. We thank you for this precious book. We pray, Father,

that your Holy Spirit would open our hearts and lives to its lessons, that you would

illuminate that path before us as to what you would have of us in response.

As we commit this hour and ourselves into your hands, in the name of Yeshua, our coming

king, amen.

The book of Luke, and we are in the fourth chapter.

It's a good time, though, to pause and refresh our memory a little bit of our background that we talked about in the first session. The four gospels were designed

specifically by the Lord himself. Matthew was called to present Jesus as the Messiah. He's

Jewish, and he focuses on Jesus as the coming king, the royal

lion of Judah. Mark focuses on Jesus as the suffering servant. He's actually the menu. It's for

Peter, so it's really his gospel. Now, Luke, of course, focuses on Jesus as the Son of Man, his emphasis on his humanity.

It's probably one of the reasons that it's such a popular gospel.

John is the high ground.
