Summary

Hosea, a contemporary of Isaiah (for most of his ministry) and Amos (in his earlier years) was the Jeremiah of the Northern Kingdom. His main target was the Northern Kingdom, yet his message was for the people of God. When Solomon died, Jeroboam rebelled and plunged the Northern Kingdom into a prosperous but idolatrous separation. After two centuries of abandoning their heritage, God sent Hosea to present His indictment and declare that He would use their enemies as His judgment. Amos was sent to Israel at a time when the nation feels militarily secure and prosperous, yet is turning to idolatry and abandoning their heritage. Misplaced confidence; false sense of security; abandonment of the greatness of their nation... (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?) In many ways a complement to Hosea, this perspective on the plight of Israel parallels the predicament of our country today. This study contains 13 hours of verse by verse teachings. 0:49.6	And whenever we enter the Word of God, we always want to do that with prayer.
0:55.1	So if you'll borrow your hearts with me, Father, we thank you for this evening.
1:00.6	We thank you for your word.
1:02.6	And we solicit your Holy Spirit to open our hearts and lives to that word, that we might
1:06.9	glean here that which you have for us.
1:09.4	As Father, we seek that your purpose be accomplished in each of our lives.
1:14.9	We pray, Father, you help us to grow in grace and the knowledge of our coming king as we
1:19.7	commit this coming hour and ourselves into your hands.
1:24.4	In the name of Yeshua, our coming king indeed. Amen.
1:29.6	The book of Amos, and he was one of the two prophets to the northern kingdom. He was contemporaneous
1:36.5	with Hosea, and we are in the fifth of five sessions, wrapping up the remainder of chapter
1:43.1	nine. And may recall, they had the remainder of chapter 9.
1:44.6	And may recall, I had an introduction of a couple of verses, of course.
1:49.2	And then we had eight judgments.
1:51.3	And he opened this thing by having to denouncing judgments on heathen nations, Damascus,
1:55.5	Gaza, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, and Moab.
1:59.4	And then he shifted judgments on Judah, the southern kingdom.
