Summary

Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. 0:50.1	Okay, we're in session 14 of the Gospel of Matthew, and we're going to focus on the triumphal entry, the first part of chapter 21, the triumphal entry. By way of review,
0:57.8	we had a section one consists of half a dozen of the first chapters of Matthew, the genealogy
1:05.0	of Christ, the birth of Christ, the baptism, the temptation, and then the manifesto of the king,
1:09.9	what we call the sermon on the mountain.
1:11.9	And then Section 2 had a whole series of healings and responses.
1:19.6	But climaxing in Chapter 12 with a watershed chapter after which Jesus no longer spoke to the public

1:28.8	And so chapter 12 is a watershed chapter.

1:34.9	And so the third section of Unit 1 had the seven kingdom parables, which were a response in effect to chapter 12, seven
